Barcelona Cruise Port to Develop a New Sustainable Cruise Terminal C

The €104.5 million project marks a major milestone for Barcelona Cruise Port, alongside the extension of its concession until 2050, with a possible extension to 2053.

Barcelona Cruise Port, part of Global Ports Holding (GPH), the world's largest cruise port operator, has received approval from the Port of Barcelona's Board of Directors to develop a new Terminal C and extend its concession agreement.

The project represents a planned investment of €104.5 million, including more than €50 million for the construction of a new 11,253 m² cruise terminal at Adossat Wharf. Designed to enhance the passenger experience, operational efficiency and sustainability, the new facility will feature solar power generation and onshore power supply (OPS) infrastructure, enabling cruise vessels to connect to the electricity grid while at berth.

Under the revised agreement, Barcelona Cruise Port's concession will run until 2050, with the option to extend it until 2053, reinforcing its long-term commitment to Barcelona.

Francesc Grau, GPH Regional Director West Med and General Manager of Barcelona Cruise Port, commented:

"This approval represents a significant milestone for Barcelona Cruise Port and reflects the strong partnership and mutual trust we have built with the Port of Barcelona. The new Terminal C will allow us to deliver a modern, efficient and sustainable facility that enhances the cruise experience while supporting Barcelona's long-term development as a leading cruise destination."

The new Terminal C forms part of the wider transformation of cruise infrastructure at Adossat Wharf, supporting the Port of Barcelona's long-term vision for more modern, efficient and sustainable cruise facilities. Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
